Offers supportive housing, emergency shelter, and wraparound services to New Yorkers threatened with homelessness, in order to level the playing field for those who face housing instability, health disparities, and barriers to education, employment, self-sufficiency and wellness.
This grant is part of the Neighborhood Collective Impact Project, which provides funding to address concerns raised during Brooklyn Org’s annual Listening Tours.

Studies found that soil in East Flatbush has the 3rd highest level of lead contamination in NYC, potentially jeopardizing the health of homeowners and community gardeners growing and sharing produce; while asthma-related hospitalization rates in East Flatbush are higher compared to Brooklyn and NYC overall. Cultivate Green will conduct soil testing, air monitoring and remediation, host community workshops to raise awareness of health risks, sustainability, and preliminary remediation tactics.
Centers the South Asian diaspora in a survivor-led movement for gender justice through direct services like housing, food justice, and anti-violence programs, advocacy and organizing, technical assistance, and community outreach.
Mobilizes low- and no-income African immigrant women to improve their quality of life and strengthen their families and communities through direct services like youth education programs, domestic violence crisis intervention, counseling, public education, and advocacy.
Encourages low- to moderate-income residents to take control of their housing by organizing strong tenant associations and enhancing communities by building lasting affordable co-ops.
Builds power among low-income people affected by HIV/AIDS, the drug war, mass incarceration, and homelessness through community organizing, leadership development, policy advocacy, direct services, and research.
Supports women and girls, champions gender equity, and strives to eliminate racism through housing support, leadership development, immigration services, advocacy and policy, and community engagement.
