Provides underserved youth of color across 55 New York City schools with high quality theater after-school and extracurricular programming to gain confidence and pride.
Provides low-income residents and minority groups – especially young people and older adults – with opportunities to engage in arts education and performance arts.
Supports NYC’s growing population of older and disabled adults who have no family or friends to care for them, by advocating for more state resources to train guardians, providing holistic benefits and case management services, and developing legal models that preserve independence for older adults without the need for full guardianship.
This grant is part of the Neighborhood Collective Impact Project, which provides funding to address concerns raised during Brooklyn Org’s annual Listening Tours.

Malcolm X Utica Avenue Merchants Association (MUAMA) is spearheading a comprehensive community development and small business revitalization initiative called X Marks the SPOT with the goal of revitalizing the Malcolm X Boulevard business corridor. Through the development and implementation of a series of targeted community programs, MUAMA aims to bolster support for local businesses. The planned programs will include a mix of cultural events, business promotions, and community gatherings, all designed to appeal to a broad range of residents and visitors.
Produces an intergenerational documentary film as part of a broader effort to reduce loneliness and connect neighbors through storytelling, public screenings, and community workshops.
This grant was made in partnership with CitizensNYC.
Fosters a supportive, compassionate alternative for canners — people who collect empty beverage containers to then redeem for five cents each — to access redemption services that create pathways for their financial, social, and environmental empowerment.
Provides young people with marketable hard skills in STEAM like graphic and web design, and access to post-secondary education in order to achieve economic mobility and engage in community revitalization.
