Develops action-focused research and policy advocacy that centers the experience of BIPOC communities to help shape public discourse around public education, the environment, immigration, and economics.

Increases access to healthy food, nutritional education, and career and personal development opportunities, and provides free, culinary vocational training to Brownsville residents through its culinary training program. The Center’s multi-week culinary workshops provide neighborhood youth with the opportunity to learn culinary skills alongside industry professionals. And it provides a safe, comfortable space where neighbors can access fresh, healthy, affordable, culturally relevant foods.

Builds domestic worker and nanny coalitions in Park Slope and Carroll Gardens to advocate for fair wages and labor rights, providing trainings and certifications and strengthening worker protections with community-led solutions.

Provides formerly incarcerated young people with four-month paid learning and skills-building fellowships that equip them with the tools to succeed in the food service industry and become leaders in their community.

Works to end wrongful convictions by advocating for policy reform, supporting exonerees and their families with casework, and building a fairer criminal justice system rooted in racial justice and equity.

Equalizes the academic and professional playing field for low-income high school students by providing them with access to free technology and internet access, mentorship, and a digital skills curriculum.

Equips Brooklyn residents with policy and community education programs, leadership training, and financial services to tackle housing, economic, and environmental injustices across Flatbush, East New York, Brownsville, and beyond.

Provides athletic programs for Black youth in underserved communities to learn fencing (an often-inaccessible sport), and experience personal growth, community connection, and trips abroad and domestically to compete.

Provides pro-bono translation services for displaced people  to support them building a strong legal case for asylum, bridging gaps between social services agencies and refugees while creating employment opportunities by also hiring refugees as interpreters.

Fosters a supportive, compassionate alternative for canners — people who collect empty beverage containers to then redeem for five cents each — to access redemption services that create pathways for their financial, social, and environmental empowerment.
