Brooklyn Org’s annual day of service brings together community members to roll up their sleeves and work alongside the incredible nonprofits that support our borough. You’ll get to learn about the day-to-day work of these amazing organizations and lend a helping hand.

Prospect Park Alliance is the non-profit organization that sustains “Brooklyn’s Backyard,” working in partnership with the City of New York. The Alliance was founded in 1987 to help restore the park after a long period of deterioration and decline. Volunteer Activity, Time & Location:

  • Street Tree Care For Ditmas Park Day
  • 10 am – 2 pm
  • Cortelyou Rd, Between East 16 street & Coney Island Avenue

One of several community clean-up days, this activity will focus primarily on Cortelyou Rd in partnership with the local businesses on the strip, focuses on tree care and green practices. We are working with Big Reuse as part of this volunteer day, which will focus on street tree care.

Age requirements:

  • Anyone aged 15 and above
