amNY Op-Ed | New Yorkers Know Quality Of Life Comes From Care And Community, Not More Policing

The Brooklyn community came together to celebrate the end of summer for kids and families with the ‘Back to School Community Bash’ at Atlantic Terminal Mall on Saturday, August 16th. Hosted by Atlantic Terminal in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Parents and Brooklyn Org, the festivities included an entire morning of fun, neighborhood connection, and back-to-school excitement at the Atlantic Terminal Mall Plaza.
Children and their families enjoyed crafts, building with giant blocks, basketball drills with Nike, interactive STEM fun, water games, live DJ entertainment, and more to help start the school year with a confident splash.
“We’re proud to have partnered on a day that brought joy to Brooklyn families and highlighted the power of community,” said a spokesperson for Brooklyn Org.
“Our back-to-school collaboration with Brooklyn Bridge Parents, Atlantic Terminal, and the Alex House Project reflected our shared commitment to supporting families and setting them up for success. Events like this show what Brooklyn Org is all about — showing up for each other and investing in the future of our borough.”
In addition to the event, Atlantic Terminal partnered with the Alex House Project to donate 200 backpacks and school supplies to students in need of a little extra help, extending the impact of the event beyond just a day of celebration.
