Brooklyn New Year’s Resolutions For Health, Wealth, And Happiness In 2025

With the arrival of 2025, Brooklynites are celebrating across the borough with time-honored traditions — strolling neighborhood parks, taking the Coney Island Polar Bear Plunge, and of course, making New Year’s resolutions. Brooklyn Org has 3 resolutions you can make this year to deepen your connection to the borough, while also meeting goals to support your health, wealth, and happiness:

1. For Health: Find Ways To Get Involved & Volunteer

Many people hit the gym in January for a fresh start, but you can also keep in good health throughout the year by staying connected to your community through attending local events and volunteering. Taking part in community gatherings can impact your physical and mental health for the better, and studies also show that volunteering can positively affect your heart health, impacting your blood glucose levels, cholesterol, and blood pressure.

You can also resolve to run the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon on Sunday, April 27th with Brooklyn Org! Join our team with a $1,000 minimum fundraising commitment, benefiting nonprofits across our borough in the year ahead.

Brooklyn Org can help you get involved across the borough:

2. For Wealth: Increase Your Community Impact By Planning Tax-Efficient Giving

Maximize your personal giving by opening a tax-efficient Donor Advised Fund (DAF) at Brooklyn Org, transferring your existing fund from another provider, or by donating directly to BKO.

Our DAF program offers individuals, families, and businesses unmatched support to for their charitable giving – allowing you to set aside charitable funds into an account for an immediate tax deduction. You can then recommend grants to the nonprofits and causes you care about at your own pace. By simply having your fund at Brooklyn Org, you support Brooklyn’s communities, as all fund fees back local nonprofits.

Our team can help you plan your giving and increase your impact:

3. For Happiness: Less Doomscrolling, More Community Connection

If you ever find yourself “doomscrolling” you know the term lives up to its name, and studies do suggest that it may lead to higher levels of psychological distress and lower levels of mental well-being. But the cure for doomscrolling isn’t disconnecting entirely – the key may lie in connecting with the community around you. Research shows that a greater sense of community belonging is “associated with increased feelings of happiness” across a global sample.

Here’s how you can stay updated on your community with Brooklyn Org:
