Michael Sedillo
Chief Impact and Growth Officer (He/Him)
Michael Sedillo is a public-sector leader, policy strategist, and lifelong believer in the power of civic institutions to make people’s lives better. Over more than a decade in government, including nearly ten years in senior roles in the New York City Mayor’s Office under three Mayors and six Deputy Mayors, Michael has built a career around tackling complicated problems, bringing people together, and turning ambitious ideas into results.
Most recently, Michael served as Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Nonprofit Services, where he led a team working to strengthen the City’s partnership with the nonprofit organizations that deliver nearly $20 billion in human services to New Yorkers each year. Previously, as Senior Advisor to the First Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives, Michael led some of the Adams Administration’s most consequential cross-government initiatives.
Michael began his career as a 2010 Bay Area Teach For America corps member, where he taught first grade in San Jose, California. He holds a Master of Public Administration in Urban and Social Policy from Columbia University and a B.S. in Political Communication from the University of Texas at Austin. A native Texan with deep family roots in New Mexico, Michael has called Brooklyn home since 2013 when his wife, Dayna, an amazing native Brooklynite, coaxed him from the beautiful weather and amazing food in the Bay Area to her beloved Brooklyn. Together they are raising two children.
Outside of work, Michael is an enthusiastic karaoke singer, runner, and urban hiker. He is an avid sports fan who follows the Knicks and Texas Longhorns while playing basketball, golf, tennis, and softball whenever he gets the chance. He is also a devoted trivia enthusiast and takes grilling seriously.
