What inspired you to support Brooklyn Org’s Spark Breakfast, specifically?
We were inspired to support the Brooklyn Org Spark Breakfast and Brooklyn Org Spark Prize because of its unique focus on providing no-strings-attached funding to community-based organizations that are deeply rooted in Brooklyn’s neighborhoods. As presenting sponsor of the 2026 Brooklyn Org Spark Prize, NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital was proud to contribute to an initiative that places trust directly in the hands of local leaders.
Are there any issues or causes that are important to your work, that you want more Brooklynites to know about?
Access to care, health equity, and addressing the social drivers of health are central to our work. Many health challenges, from chronic disease to maternal health outcomes, are deeply influenced by factors such as housing stability, food access, safety, and community support.
That is why we prioritize collaboration with local organizations, invest in preventive and outpatient care, and focus on reaching populations who may face barriers to accessing traditional healthcare settings. Supporting community-based organizations is not separate from our mission, it is essential to it.
What do you hope to see in the future for Brooklyn communities?
NewYork-Presbyterian hopes to see a Brooklyn where everyone has access to high-quality healthcare and opportunities to thrive. That future depends on continued collaboration across sectors, including healthcare, philanthropy, nonprofits, and civic leadership.
We are inspired by the creativity and resilience of Brooklyn’s nonprofit community and look forward to continuing to invest in collaborations that strengthen neighborhoods, advance equity, and improve quality of life across the borough.

Brooklyn’s sense of community. It’s a borough defined by neighbors looking out for one another, by cultural richness, and by organizations and institutions that are deeply committed to the people they serve. That spirit is what makes Brooklyn such a special place to live, work, and serve.
