Moderated by Nicole Epps, Brooklyn Org’s Chief Operating and Financial Officer & Head of Donor Services, this panel discussion will feature Kim Belizaire, Executive Director of Good Call, and Chris Gelardi, Justice Bureau Chief at New York Focus. Together, these leading voices in advocacy and journalism will explore the current landscape, key challenges, and community-driven solutions shaping justice reform in Brooklyn.

As New York Focus’s justice bureau chief, Chris Gelardi reports and edits work on the state’s criminal-legal and immigration systems. His writing on cops, jails, ICE, and the US military has appeared in more than a dozen other outlets, most frequently The Intercept and The Nation, and his award-winning investigations into prison conditions and police surveillance have spurred lawsuits and legislation. He’s based in Queens.
Kim is the Executive Director of Good Call, leading the everyday management of programming and operations at the non-profit. Kim joined the team in 2019 as a project manager, having left her role at Airbnb as a Community Affairs Manager working on policy and advocacy engagement with local hosts, organizations, small businesses, and nonprofits. Kim has a community organizing and advocacy background, starting her career as Deputy Field Director for the Bill Owens for Congress Campaign in 2012 and the Constituents Affairs Intern in his Plattsburgh office after his successful re-election. Originally from Haiti, Kim holds a BA in Criminal Justice from SUNY Plattsburgh. Her work at Good Call was recognized by Nonprofit New York through the Advocacy and Strategic Alliances/Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award. She is a 2023 City Fellow at Company Ventures and part of the 2023 New Profit Unlock Futures Cohort.
