Dear Friends,

In the past year alone, Brooklyn Org’s community of supporters has moved nearly $5 million in funding to over 100 Brooklyn nonprofits, working across every neighborhood and every issue, to help our neighbors thrive.

Local nonprofits are the lifeblood of our community—addressing housing instability, food insecurity, affordable childcare, workforce training, access to arts and culture, support for returning citizens, protection for immigrants, and so much more—often on shoestring budgets in a borough that doesn’t always receive its fair share of funding.

And their work is more critical than ever before as we face this moment of heightened need and uncertainty. This giving season, we invite you to Show Brooklyn Some Love and join us in stepping up to support these vital organizations and the communities they serve.

Brooklyn is the heart and soul of New York City. It attracts diverse people from all over the world who come here to build a life and pursue their dreams. But as vibrant and dynamic as our borough is, we also face entrenched challenges that demand our collective action:

  • The racial wealth gap between white and BIPOC residents is $50 billion;
  • Brooklyn has the highest total number of children living in poverty in NYC, and 20% of children have parents who have been incarcerated;
  • Unemployment is at 5.1%, and 1 in 7 adults didn’t graduate from high school;
  • Over 200,000 Brooklynites are undocumented, and over 200,000 migrants have arrived in NYC since 2022.

As the needs of our communities grow more urgent, our role in supporting our neighbors becomes more critical.

Brooklyn Org is uniquely positioned to meet this moment. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with local nonprofits that are not only fighting to preserve the progress we’ve made, but also pushing us forward toward greater equity and justice, so that all our neighbors can thrive.

The call to “Show Brooklyn Some Love” is especially urgent right now. Love is not just an abstract idea—it’s a powerful, tangible action that can make a real difference.

As we prepare for the work ahead, we know we can and must do more. We ask you to join us in this critical effort and pledge your support to your neighbors with a gift that impacts the whole borough.

See Our Collective Impact In Action:

Because of the seed money from Brooklyn Org, our whole program expanded. We were servicing 60 families a week for food pantry, and it expanded to 30,000 families per week…I would never have imagined that a $50,000 seed grant would go to $6 million, but that’s what happens when you show love.
