The Foundation Of Our Future: Brooklyn Org Philanthropy Fellowship

Brooklyn Org strives to be the foundation of our future – as we imagine the future of our borough and the future of philanthropy – ensuring both reflect the communities we serve. That includes cultivating pathways into the field of philanthropy.

The inaugural Brooklyn Org Philanthropy Fellowship, made possible through the generous support of Brooklyn Org Board Member Janel Callon, is designed to introduce current students to careers in our sector, ranging from grantmaking to communications and development.

We are excited to welcome our first cohort to Brooklyn Org, who are working alongside our teams for the next six months:

  • Taraun Frontis (Programs) is pursuing his Masters in Public Administration at City College. He grew up in Harlem with family connections in Brooklyn, has a background in nonprofit HR and operations, and works part-time with BKO nonprofit partner Kings Against Violence Initiative.
  • Victoria Liverpool (Strategic Communications) is pursuing her Masters in Global Affairs at NYU and has a background in strategic communications and storytelling supporting climate justice campaigns, digital content, and community-centered event production. She lives in Bedford Stuyvesant, where she also volunteers with BKO partner The Campaign Against Hunger.
  • Eliel Peterson (Development) is a Masters candidate at NYU Gallatin studying African cinema and Black visual storytelling. She’s a Brooklyn-based writer, curator, and community arts organizer and the founder of Eye Level, a free annual arts initiative for NYC youth.
  • Zoe Pyne (Programs) is pursuing a dual degree in Economics at Barnard and a Masters of Public & International Affairs at Columbia. She grew up in Flatbush and has a background in research and data analysis.

Fellows will gain exposure to Brooklyn Org’s overall operations, explore the work of our nonprofit partners, learn how funding decisions are made with community members, meet with local leaders in our sector, and ultimately see how strategy turns into action.
