Brooklyn Paper: Love In Full Bloom: Third Annual Show Brooklyn Some Love Fest To Bring Families Together For Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day weekend, the borough’s community spirit will shine brightly as more than a dozen local organizations team up to host the third annual Show Brooklyn Some Love Fest.

This free, family-friendly event aims to honor Brooklyn moms and showcase the vibrant culture, and creativity that define the borough.

Festival highlights include a free flower bar, where families can craft personalized bouquets for Mother’s Day. There will also be interactive activities with Brooklyn Museum on Wheels, dance classes led by the Mark Morris Dance Group, and live performances including African drumming and dance workshops. Children can participate in hands-on art projects with UrbanGlass and Red Hook Art Project, making jewelry and exploring their artistic talents.

Food lovers can enjoy $1 desserts available at DeKalb Market Hall, featuring a selection of sweet treats from local vendors.

Liane Stegmaier, chief of staff at Brooklyn Org, told Brooklyn Paper the idea for the event came about when members of her team, City Point and reps from the Brooklyn Bridge Parents team started to brainstorm on ways they could celebrate the borough and families within their community. .

“The flower bar is both interactive and an instant gift. The family photo booth provides that “proof of mom” moment since so many moms are often the ones behind the camera. The bead bar is a fun way to make matching jewelry,” Stegmaier said. “It’s all about showing the people who make Brooklyn the greatest community on earth that we love them and celebrate them.”

Now in its third year, the festival consistently draws large crowds and features a wide array of activities designed to engage children and adults alike. Last year, the event welcomed more than hundreds of attendees, and City Point and Brooklyn Org, organizers behind the event, are expecting an even bigger turnout this year, with expanded programming and partnerships.

“We are now in our third year of the fest – it has gotten bigger and better each time – and we cannot wait to welcome families and really create a special day for moms this year,” she told Brooklyn Paper.

This event emphasizes joy, creativity, and the often-unseen labor of caregiving, inviting Brooklynites to celebrate the people who hold families and communities together.

“We want to create connections — for families to have a memorable day together, for everyone who comes out to get to know and appreciate the nonprofit and community groups that make our borough so special and see that Brooklyn Org is here to help everyone find a part to play in strengthening Brooklyn,” she said.

Admission is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to bring their children, enjoy the activities, and honor the contributions of Brooklyn’s mothers and caregivers.

The third annual Show Brooklyn Some Love Fest is scheduled for May 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at City Point and Albee Square Plaza in Downtown Brooklyn.
