Power of Two
Stories of Impact
Power of Two strives to reverse intergenerational trauma and adverse childhood experiences through parenting programs that help caregivers tap into their inherent potential to parent sensitively and nurture their children’s developing brain during the first 1,000 days of life.
By increasing positive interactions between parent and child and facilitating access to supportive resources, Power of Two aims to decrease maternal depression.

As a 2024 Brooklyn Org Spark Prize Winner, Power of Two benefits from a $100,000 ‘no strings attached’ grant for their work to advance racial justice and better the lives of our neighbors across Brooklyn.
“On behalf of the families and children that we partner with, Power of Two is deeply grateful for the spotlight that Brooklyn Org has put on our organization,” said Coleen Stevens Porcher, Executive Director of Power of Two. “This award is game changing for our communities.”
Power of Two leverages partnerships with NYC elected officials, city organizations, and nonprofits to maximize the likelihood that babies will have strong health outcomes and subsequent academic success. Brooklyn Org’s further investment in their work will allow Power of Two to expand their work to nurture the bonds between children and caregivers, deepening their impact across our communities in neighborhoods including Brownsville, Bed-Stuy, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint.
According to Stevens Porcher, “[Brooklyn Org’s support] will have a long lasting impact by allowing us to help more families heal from intergenerational trauma and toxic stress, setting their babies up to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives.”
Brooklyn Org is deeply proud to partner with Power of Two to strengthen our communities and create environments where all families thrive and children are healthy, safe, and able to reach their full potential.
