Do Bigger Gifts Mean More?
Time and time again, we see how easily our Donor Advised Fund holders are not only able to fulfill their long-term, high-impact charitable goals, but also quickly pivot to use their funds to meet urgent needs in Brooklyn and beyond.
That unmatched flexibility is why DAFs are among the fastest growing charitable vehicles available, providing donors with the ability to support all the causes they care about at their own pace and charitable giving budget.
At every level of giving, philanthropy is a catalyst for improving the world around us and everyone has a part to play–whether you’re using your DAF to give $250 to a grassroots organization, $2,500 to a food bank, or $25,000 to a museum endowment.
Last year alone, our Brooklyn Org DAF holders gave an incredible $15.8M to 489 nonprofits, through a mix of gifts ranging from $250 to $1.5 million.

Early in the year, many of our DAF holders transfer highly-appreciated stock to their Donor Advised Fund, so that they are prepared to activate their annual giving right away.
And while oftentimes major gifts make the headlines–like MacKenzie Scott’s game-changing unrestricted grantmaking, we’ve all seen when small donations from a large number of people can make a huge difference. We saw it in 2020 when we launched our Brooklyn COVID-19 Response Fund, which garnered support from thousands of Brooklynites to eventually raise over $5 million for local communities. And we see it every year through our Brooklyn Gives on GivingTuesday campaign, which raised over $1 million for local nonprofits from over 4,000 donors in 2023.
Big or small, there is power in our collective commitment to backing our communities and the nonprofits dedicated to lasting change.
At Brooklyn Org, we are proud to work with you to use your DAF to respond in times of crisis and invest in long-term solutions at every opportunity – because we know that every gift counts.
