New Tax Law Brings Complexity and Opportunity for Charitable Giving

Brooklyn Org announced that it has received a $10,000 donation from TerraCRG to propel its support for local communities and the nonprofits they rely upon. The donation represents 100% of the net proceeds from TerraCRG’s annual Only Brooklyn real estate conference held on May 29, 2025 at BRIC Arts Media in Downtown Brooklyn.
“We are deeply grateful to TerraCRG for their commitment to the Brooklyn community and for supporting Brooklyn Org’s mission of creating a borough where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” said Dr. Jocelynne Rainey, President and CEO of Brooklyn Org. “This generous donation will go directly to nonprofits working in our neighborhoods to deliver solutions to the issues that matter most in the lives of Brooklynites.”
“Brooklyn Org’s mission aligns with ours in creating lasting impact in the borough, and we’re proud to support their efforts,” said Dan Marks, CEO of TerraCRG. “By donating 100% of conference profits to Brooklyn Org, we’re not only fostering important conversations about the future of Brooklyn real estate but also contributing to initiatives that benefit the local community. We’re excited to bring together the best minds in the industry for this year’s conference and continue our commitment to both the market and the community we serve.”
TerraCRG’s donation will back Brooklyn Org’s focus on investing in critical areas such as affordable housing, job creation, economic opportunity, and civic engagement. The Only Brooklyn Conference, hosted in partnership with Fried Frank, brought together New York City’s leading real estate professionals, developers, investors, and civic leaders, to discuss topics ranging from housing affordability to infrastructure development and innovation.
In 2024 alone, Brooklyn Org moved more than $19.5 million to nonprofits through its community grantmaking programs and donor-advised funds. Earlier this month, Brooklyn Org announced the “Brooklyn Backs Brooklyn” fundraising campaign to increase its grantmaking by 25% over the next year, in response to rising economic instability and sweeping federal funding cuts. BKO also just launched a new microgrants program to support smaller nonprofits that are deeply embedded within the borough’s communities.
