Farragut Stakeholders Celebrate Student Success

Brooklyn Org is proud to be the fiscal sponsor for The Farragut Stakeholders Group, a team of six community-minded residents of the Farragut Houses (a public housing community in downtown Brooklyn that borders the Brooklyn Navy Yard) that provide programming, initiatives, experiences and events for the Farragut residents. They recently held their second annual College Scholarship Awards Dinner to celebrate this year’s recipients, Ashantie Howard of Medgar Evers College, Mariah Wilcher of Borough of Manhattan Community College, and Malaya Williams of Coppin State University.

A group of ten adults pose and smile for a photo indoors; some are standing, others seated. A purple logo with people holding hands is in the bottom right corner.

Latrel Mosso, leader of the Farragut Stakeholders, shared with BK Reader: “Growing up in Farragut Public Housing, I often wished for the kind of opportunities these young women are receiving today. I remember all too well the challenges I faced, especially the lack of financial support, it was a painful reality. Seeing the joy and pride on their faces now fills me with hope and affirms that the efforts we’ve made over the years have truly borne fruit.”
