Carmencita Whonder is a Policy Director at Brownstein Hyatt Faber Schreck, a leading lobbying law firm. She is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OF WHONDER, a size inclusive luxury womenswear brand. She previously served U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) as the staff director for the Senate Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation, and Community Development, and as the principal advisor on the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. Carmencita also helped to launch the Gates Millennium Scholars Program, a $1 billion education initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
She serves on the Population Council’s International Board and the board of the DC Jazz Festival, is a Milken Institute Associate, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She holds a BA from Howard University, and a MIPP from John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a diploma from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca.
