Brooklyn Org's support for so many kid-centric nonprofits makes them the perfect partner for our community events for families in Brooklyn. Katharina Goetz, Founder of Brooklyn Bridge Parents

As the borough’s go-to giving partner, Brooklyn Org is proud to collaborate with local businesses that bring families together and build community. That shared vision led us to partner with Brooklyn Bridge Parents, a trusted resource for parents navigating life in Brooklyn. We spoke with Katharina Goetz, Founder of Brooklyn Bridge Parents, about her partnership with Brooklyn Org, her passion for creating inclusive family events, and what makes Brooklyn such a special place to raise kids.

Why partner with Brooklyn Org?

Brooklyn Org, City Point and Downtown Brooklyn Partnership invited Brooklyn Bridge Parents to co-host and promote the first Show Brooklyn Some Love Fest in 2024. The fest featured the completion of a 24-foot Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn landscape constructed from recyclable materials, as well as hip hop workshops, music making, face painting, drum circles, spoken word, Tai Chi, and more. We will co-host our next Show Brooklyn Some Love Fest at City Point and Albee Square on Saturday, May 10, 2025, and hopefully many more free community events in Brooklyn together. Brooklyn Org’s support for so many kid-centric nonprofits makes them the perfect partner for our community events for families in Brooklyn.

Tell us about your origin story.

I am originally from Germany, came to New York City for an international marketing job, and moved to Brooklyn when I became a mom. Not only was I longing for community, I also had no idea about parenting in Brooklyn—i.e. schools, things to do with my son, or kid-friendly restaurants.

Originally, I created content on the website that I was looking for myself. Then I started creating family events I would have liked to attend myself with my kids. From there it grew organically into an online platform with everything busy parents in Brooklyn need to know: whether you are wondering where to sign up your child for soccer or gymnastics, where to host your child’s birthday party, where to go when having a pediatric emergency at night, where to drop-in for indoor fun, which restaurants in Brooklyn are family-friendly, affordable housing for families in Brooklyn and much more!

Brooklyn Bridge Parents is now the one-stop-solution for busy parents in Brooklyn and an event management company for family events in NYC.

How do you back the borough?

All of our content for parents on our website and our community events for Brooklyn families are designed to be accessible for Brooklynites from all walks of life, resourceful, practical, and inclusive. Brooklyn’s families are our readers, our event attendees, and our ultimate inspiration. We want them to come out and play, make friends, learn and laugh together! I am passionate about connecting people (especially kids) and building community, and I am so grateful to be able to do this in the most interesting and diverse place on Earth!

What do you love about Brooklyn?

I love all of the different cultures and ways of living, the creativity of the people, and the speed at which Brooklynites execute new business ideas.

Brooklyn to you in one word?
