Last month, Brooklyn Org held our first-ever Regional Nonprofit Convening to bring together organizations that serve communities across the borough, starting with East Brooklyn.

As part of our ongoing commitment to build the power of organizations that serve our borough, the convening was open to both our grantee partners and any Brooklyn-based and serving nonprofit, and took place at the Greg Jackson Center for Brownsville, a hub for community engagement and social services in the area.

Through a full day of networking, resource sharing, and collaborative programming, we connected over 50 nonprofit leaders — representing more than 40 nonprofits across East Flatbush, Cypress Hills, Brownsville, East New York, and Canarsie — all with a common goal of fostering resilience and growth in East Brooklyn.

Programming included fireside chats with the Wyckoff Museum and Tomorrow’s Leaders NYC, partnership modeling with Brownsville Partnership, and community breakout discussion groups on housing, youth, and other areas of community impact.

See what attendees had to say about their experience:

Brooklyn Org, thank you so much for bringing so many nonprofits together in one space at the Regional Nonprofit Convening! Claire Bleiler, Chief of Staff, Lemontree Foods
At Brooklyn Org’s convening, we were able to connect with two organizations, which could possibly lead to a larger project. Brooklyn Org supporting organizations in this way is appreciated — engaging their grantees and other community-based nonprofits is vital work. Ramik Williams, Co-Executive Director, KAVI
We need more events like Brooklyn Org’s Nonprofit Convening, to make strong partnerships to better support our communities. Yubelis Valerio, Senior Family Support Specialist, Adoption and Foster Family Coalition (AFFCNY)
I enjoyed getting to connect with old colleagues and meet new ones at Brooklyn Org’s Regional Nonprofit Convening. Rebecca Cohen, Executive Director & Cofounder, Brooklyn Book Bodega
Brooklyn Org did a great job at creating a space for nonprofits to connect at their Regional Nonprofit Convening. There were lots of opportunities to network and start planting the seeds for partnerships. Catherine Genao, Development Associate / Grant Writer, Cypress Hills LDC

We look forward to seeing how these new connections and ideas will develop into impactful partnerships to benefit our communities – and we can’t wait for our upcoming programming. Sign up for our nonprofit newsletter below to stay updated on Brooklyn Org’s nonprofit trainings and conferences:
