Brooklyn Org’s Brooklyn Gives Campaign Signals Urgent Need for Local Support This Giving Tuesday and Beyond

With GivingTuesday, the biggest day of giving, right around the corner, Brooklyn Org’s Brooklyn Gives campaign is addressing a moment of unprecedented need for Brooklyn’s nonprofit sector. With hundreds of participating nonprofits spanning food access, immigrant support, housing justice, youth development, older adult services, arts and culture, and more, the Brooklyn Gives campaign aims to rally residents across the borough to meet rising community needs and ensure that frontline organizations are equipped to continue their vital work.

Running through the end of the year, Brooklyn Gives invites donors to learn about and support local nonprofits at bkgives.brooklyn.org. Participating organizations may be eligible to receive matching funds and cash prizes made possible through Brooklyn Org and its philanthropic partners.

This year’s campaign arrives amid sobering findings from the Brooklyn Backs Brooklyn – Nonprofit Survey (Fall 2025), which reveals that 86% of nonprofits are facing rising costs and 60% have experienced cuts to government funding—even as demand for services remains at historic highs. More than half of Brooklyn nonprofits fear they will not be financially stable heading into 2026.

From feeding families, to providing mental health support, to uplifting youth, nonprofits are ensuring that Brooklyn backs Brooklyn,” said Dr. Jocelynne Rainey, President and CEO of Brooklyn Org.

“Brooklyn Gives is our collective chance to stand together with our nonprofits so we all move forward together.”

This year’s campaign includes several powerful incentives for donors:

• A $100,000 matching fund will double contributions made to the 20 finalists of the Brooklyn Org Spark Prize 
• Ten participating nonprofits will receive additional $500 prizes from Brooklyn Org throughout GivingTuesday, December 2, 2025
• All donations directly support local organizations working to strengthen Brooklyn communities

Through Brooklyn Gives, donors can support hundreds of local nonprofits and take advantage of matching fund opportunities and special Brooklyn Gives Bonus Grants to maximize their impact. The campaign ensures that charitable dollars stay in the borough and directly benefit community rooted organizations that know Brooklyn best.

Brooklyn Gives builds on the global generosity of GivingTuesday and channels it locally to uplift and sustain Brooklyn-based nonprofits working across every neighborhood. The campaign empowers Brooklynites to support causes they care about while contributing to a stronger, more compassionate borough.
