In many ways, Brooklyn has been the shining star of the city’s post-pandemic recovery, with job growth outpacing other boroughs, a sustained boom in new businesses, and thriving commercial corridors. But the borough still has significant work to do to ensure all of its residents can fully participate in the borough’s growing prosperity. Too few of those living in Brooklyn are accessing the well-paying jobs being created today, and too many face grave affordability challenges, as well as gaps in access to health care, education, open space, and technology. Addressing the borough’s biggest challenges, taking advantage of its many opportunities, and laying the foundation for a stronger and more equitable Brooklyn will require bold action and fresh ideas.

This unique half-day symposium aims to bring leaders together from across Brooklyn to generate those ideas—concrete policy solutions that leaders in City Hall, Albany, and Borough Hall can implement to make progress toward a stronger and more equitable borough. The event builds on our March 2024 report, 50 Ideas for a Stronger and More Equitable Brooklyn, which featured ideas for the borough’s future from a diverse mix of 50 exceptional leaders from across the Brooklyn.

The agenda will include:

  • Ten Brooklyn-based community leaders delivering three-minute idea pitches;
  • A session where members of the audience will share an idea of their own for the Brooklyn’s future;
  • And two high-level panel discussions with experts and elected officials from Brooklyn.
