Community land trusts are changing the game and democratizing housing in Brooklyn

Brooklyn Org, in partnership with The New York Women’s Foundation and North Star Fund, recently held a briefing on democratizing housing in Brooklyn through community land trusts (CLTs).

Community land trusts are nonprofit corporations that hold land on behalf of a place-based community, while serving as the long-term steward for affordable housing, community gardens, and other community assets on behalf of a community.

In the webinar below, our partners highlight the Pratt Center for Community Development’s recent research into CLTs, and the East New York Community Land Trust’s groundbreaking acquisition of 248 Arlington Ave into community control.
