First-Ever Brooklyn Policy Symposium Generates Bold Ideas for More Equitable Borough

This weekend, more than 1,000 families joined Brooklyn Org and partners at Albee Square and City Point for Show Brooklyn Some Love Fest: Mother’s Day Edition—a free, family-centered celebration of art, culture, and care in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn.
The event was made possible with generous support from the Stardust Fund and featured a wide array of hands-on activities and live performances that brought joy to families from across our borough.
Highlights included:
A free Mother’s Day Flower Bar where families created custom bouquets for moms and caregivers
Face painting, bracelet making, and bead glassmaking demos
Kids crafts and games presented in celebration of Monuments to Motherhood
Book signing and photo ops with the Green Lady of Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Made store
Mother’s Day gift bags for 100 mothers served by local nonprofits
The outdoor stage kept the energy high with live drumming, music, and dance performances throughout the day:
Hope for Desperate Hearts African drumming
Hopalong Andrew singalong
Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet dance performance
DJ Mike Family Dance Party
Thank you to our event partners City Point, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, Brooklyn Bridge Parents, and the Stardust Fund for helping us uplift and celebrate the caregivers who make our communities strong.
We’re grateful to everyone who came out to show Brooklyn some love!
